Tereza Macel – 4th at IRONMAN World Championships

Kailua-Kona, HI – Australia’s Craig Alexander captured his second consecutive World Championship title. Chrissie Wellington of Great Britain, added a third championship title to her resume; her final time of 8:54:02 broke the course record set in 1992 by Paula Newby-Fraser.

AVIA’s Tereza Macel had a solid day as she battled the intense heat out in the lava fields, the winds at Hawi, and taking on the best athletes in the world. Tereza swam just off the feet of TBB teammate Lucie Zelenkova who would lead the women’s field out of the water. Tereza’s tenacity on the bike is unbeatable but as an athlete of three sports, her challenge is to temper her speed so she still has plenty to give on the run. Tereza posted the 3rd fastest split of the day, only behind Wellington (1st) and Berasategui (3rd). She followed up her strong ride with a 3:10:13 run split. Congrats Tereza on amazing 2009 season!
