There were a lot of people in Oceanside asking , “who is that?” as Lesley Paterson had a massive breakthrough race placing 2nd at the Ironman California 70.3. The tiny Scot stormed her way through the field on the bike and run, blowing the doors off the old run course record in the process. The XTERRA World Champs runner-up who moonlights as a writer/film producer/actress/coach finished between two former 70.3 world champions in her first race of the year. Lesley will be a huge player on the XTERRA US Tour this year.
On the other side of the world, Rebekah Keat of Team TBB was having her own great day in Port Macquarie at Ironman Australia. She was battling for the lead all day and half-way through the bike looked as if she was going to the front for good. A rough spot early on the run stalled her move for the win but her effort was more than enough to secure 2nd place.
