Team TBB’s Tereza Macel won her 4th Ironman title in ten months with an impressive victory at Ironman Brazil in Florianapolis. She was near the front all day, never falling beyond 2nd place. Tez entered T2 in second but used a strong, consistent run to grab the lead and the win in 9:19:13. Her TBB teammate Donna Phelan finished in a time of 9:44:45, good enough for fifth place and a spot to the Ironman World Championships. Also snagging a Kona slot was 3-time Ironman Brazil winner Eduardo Sturla, who had a bit of an off day and finished fourth.
Team TBB was busy as Erika Csomor was in an epic battle at Ironman 70.3 Austria. In the end, she would place 2nd in a sprint finish, missing out on the winner’s check by a mere 0.2 seconds.
Melanie McQuaid made the long trek over the pond to Sardinia, Italy for the XTERRA European Championships. Despite the lost luggage and jet-lag, Melanie made the most of her journey with an impressive victory over Europe’s best off-road triathletes. After a couple of cup races in the US, Frenchman Nico Lebrun finished 5th in Sardinia.
The Luna Pro Team headed down to Austin for the Mellow Johnny’s Classic at Lance Armstrong’s ranch. Despite the opressive heat and humidity, Georgia Gould rode away from teammate Katerina Nash to grab another win on the US Pro XC Tour.
