JP Theberge brings home GOLD from ITU World Champs

Gold Coast, Australia – Congrats to JP Theberge!! on a fantastic performance at the ITU World Championships.

JP – a father of three, businessman, and world champion triathlete – doesn’t let anything get in his way, let alone his below the knee amputation. The long flight from LAX to Brisbane gave JP plenty of time to focus on his objective & specific goals for the race, as well as reflect on the hard work and the journey that went into getting him to another World Championship event.

His swim was less than satisfactory, putting him in 8th place at T1. JP began to ride, knowing a lot can happen in a 40k TT and a 10k run. Little by little, JP picked off his fellow competitors until he was 41-seconds down from 1st place at about 2.5-miles into the run. And then he went, with confidence in his hard work and nothing to lose – JP brought home GOLD!!! He finished 1:24 over Rivaldo’s 2nd place for a final clocktime of 2:19.
