Victor Plata has been a part of US triathlon history for over a decade. Victor is one of the those individuals that commands success at whatever he tries his hand at, and seems to only perform better with age. In 2004, Victor was a member of the U.S. Olympic Triathlon Team. He is an 8-time member of the USA Elite National Team, and currently serves on the USA Triathlon Board of Directors.  He founded Team KINeSYS Professional Triathlon Team, which incorporated team tactics into triathlon.  The Team qualified two members for the 2003 Pan American Team, and two members for the 2004 U.S. Olympic Team.  Victor also has a commitment to giving back to his community and has done so through writing a biweekly sports column in the Santa Cruz Sentinel newspaper, motivational speaking, coaching, and instructing triathlon clinics.

Victor is a true “renaissance man” and in 2008 after graduating from the University of the Pacific, McGeorge School of Law and beginning his practice, had yet another breakthrough year. Throughout Victor’s career, he has always competed in the Tri-California series, due to his love for these courses in his backyard and the wonderful tri-cal group that hosts the races. Victor won both Pacific Grove and San Francisco Triathlons to help him capture the Tri-California Pro Series title.

Victor is currently practicing full time law  as well as preparing for his best season yet. We know he can do it – pending no attacks from any rottweilers or llamas (yes! he’s encountered both!) and that his girlfriend gets him to the startline on time (he’s never owned a car). He’s also learning Spanish as well as some ballroom dancing moves. This year you can see Victor races at the Cap Tex Tri, a couple of Pan Am & World Cup Events, Pro Nationals, and of course, the Tri-California Series, including Wildflower.
