Joanna swam competitively through high school and college. After college she was looking for a new adventure. She was swimming on a masters team with a lot of triathletes. With their advice, Joanna borrowed a bike, a helmet and just jumped in a race. She was hooked!
As if training for the Olympics and working toward an Ironman World title, doesn’t take enough energy, these accomplishments only capture half of her talents and successes. Joanna has a Master’s in Genetic Counseling and completed her Ph.d in Genetic Epidemiology in 2001. Joanna is truly a woman of multifaceted talents, and driven to succeed at whatever she gives her attention to. Her main goal is to stay healthy, race hard, and enjoy each day.
Joanna claims to still have enough free time to complete the New York Times puzzle page each morning, as well as putter in the kitchen and play the harp. This year you can see Joanna race at Vineman 70.3, several 70.3’s, and perhaps a repeat at the Ironman 70.3 World Champs.
