Jillian’s passion for competition and sheer determination, has made her one of the fastest newcomers on the ITU circuit. She began swimming at age 8, but she found her true talent in running. Jillian was the Missouri State High School Champion for cross country, 1600m, and 3200m. At the Golden West Invitational, her 4min 54sec 1600m, ranked her 9th in the Nation for High School. She ran on scholarships for University of Missouri, winning several more titles in cross country, 1500m, 5000m, and steeple chase. Jillian is a tried and true road runner, evidence by the tattoo on her right hip.

After graduation, Jillian’s dad encouraged her to experiment with triathlon. Her “thank you” for the bike he gave her for Christmas was winning the her first age-group title at the USAT National Championships. In 2006, she competed in the ITU World Championships in Lausanne, Switzerland. A year later she made her debut as a professional triathlete and is now part of the USAT Elite Development Program.

Jillian is the 5th ranked American on ITU World Rankings. In 2009, you’ll see her racing the Tri-California events and other ITU races around the world. Jillian has her sights set on making the 2012 Olympic Team. I just wonder what her next tattoo will be?
