Amanda is the young tri star in San Diego and on the national race scene. She began as a high school swimmer, but turned to running cross country and track in her freshman year at Rice University. Post-graduation she decided to experiment in triathlon with her dad’s encouragement. With a solid background in the two most challenging legs, her raw power, tuned speed, and love for racing made her a natural fit. Amanda, a native of Houston, TX now trains and races out of UC, San Diego where she is working on her PhD in Bioengineering. With two great performances at Collegiate Nationals, Amanda hopes her third time at this race will be a charm, as she completes her collegiate career and begins focusing on professional field and a handful of ITU races.
